EES Showhire has enjoyed a good local working relationship with the National Trust over the years. Being a trusted supplier for both Hardwick Hall and Clumber Park we have enjoyed working at many events and festivals in these locations.
Hardwick Hall is an Elizabethan masterpiece with Italian Renaissance architecture. Elizabeth Talbot first established the estate in the late 1500s. Bess of Hardwick, as she was known, along with her descendants, the Dukes of Devonshire, lavished huge fortunes on the estate over a 400 year period. Full of art, decadent decoration and grand features the house really stands out as one of the greatest Elizabethan houses of all.
Many activities and events are planned throughout the year by the National Trust on the house’s estate. Some of which we have been fortunate enough to get involved in. On many occasions we have been asked to light up the building, or install coloured lighting inside the building so the rooms glow at night when seen from the outside.
Some of our favourite work includes lighting the grounds and gardens. Magnificently large trees act as focal points for visitors as they wander through the entrance gate into the gardens. We have lit the trees in different colours with our outdoor flood lights. We also used some of our smaller battery operated colour changing lighting for smaller trees and bushes in the flower beds and outhouses/lodges.
Some of the events took in the exhibits created by the Trust on the grounds of the house. These exhibits show blacksmiths at work as it would have been. We have been able to create the illusion of fire and smoke to give the exhibit a real sense of realism. We also one year had fun lighting up some of the miniature fairy houses which have been created in the base of some of the trees. Lit up at night these little features look very cute as you discover them hidden in the walkways through the garden.
The video below shows some of our event work at the Hall with lighting equipment and pa sound systems.
